Ravenna is a city where history, culture and art are evident everywhere you turn.
La Veneziana Bar-Patisserie dates back to 1864, and every day produces sweets and cakes for all occasions, as well as small pastries for buffets and receptions, chilled desserts, biscuits, chocolates, a wide selection of savouries and much more. In 2016, a comprehensive restyling operation was decided on, which was completed in 2017. “La Veneziana used to have a very classical style, with the furnishings fashioned in solid wood by a skilled craftsman, in a style reminiscent of Venetian Baroque”, explains Mino Torelli, who designed the new project for the interiors. “In short, the furnishings were very old-fashioned, but had a beauty all of their own, thanks to the craftsmanship skill of the person who designed them. And indeed we decided to incorporate a piece into the new project: the lion in inlaid wood that can now be seen behind the small pastry counter”. One of the most important elements of the renovation work was the demolition and relaying of the floor. “For the new floor, we were well aware that Ravenna has the finest ancient mosaics in the world, and that mosaic flooring can be seen on the floors of many buildings even today, so we were looking for materials that would be reminiscent of these shapes and decorations of the past. And we found them in Fioranese’s HERITAGE Exagona stone-effect porcelain stoneware collection, which, when laid mixing both colours and decorations, with careful attention paid to the pattern, proved a real added value for the place. The selection used ranged from the Exagona version on the colours Grey, Ivory and Beige to the Heritage Deco Exagona version in the five textures available”.
